We celebrate John Helliwell’s 75th year with ‘When I Was Young’.His distinctive saxophone and clarinet sounds have been heard by millions through his work with the legendary Supertramp. As the band rose to No.1 in the US charts in 1979 with ‘Breakfast in America’, John became a part of the soundtrack of our lives. ‘When I was Young’ celebrates John’s life in music, with specially-written and arranged music from British Composer Award winner Andy Scott. Joining John will be his long-time collaborator, Hammond organ wizard John Ellis, and the Singh Quartet led by Rakhi Singh.Beautiful and soulful melodies merge with a multi-dimensional sound-world as folk tunes, jazz classics and pop standards are re-imagined and elevated to a new level by these world-class musicians, with John as principal soloist.
