Michael Woods is a solo acoustic Fingerpicking, Ragtime Bottleneck & Blues Guitarist based in the North-East of England with four well received albums to date and a forthcoming album of all original songs. Embracing the rich history of the early blues, Michael’s powerful picking really shines on material ranging from classic acoustic blues to self-penned songs and instrumentals.
Inspired by the great acoustic guitarists like Blind Blake, Blind Boy Fuller & Willie McTell; Michael has guested in clubs and venues across the UK for many years & has performed on the main Acoustic Stage of many major UK Blues festivals including finishing the night at both the first Durham and Cleethorpes Blues Festivals in 2011. and performing for a second time in 2016. Other festivals include The Big Blues Festival, Southport (2016 & 2018), The Great British Rock & Blues Festival, Skegness (Blues Matters! Stage, 2017) The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, Colne (Little Theatre -2018) Lindisfarne Festival (2019) and Callander Jazz & Blues Festival.(2021) He is looking forward to playing The Acoustic Stage at Upton Blues Festival in 2022.
