‘About Time’ is a jazz ensemble delivering a captivating mix of Great American Songbook classics and jazz-infused interpretations of timeless songs by Burt Bacharach. Inspired by legends such as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Abbey Lincoln, the band creates an intimate, swinging sound full of warmth and sophistication.

‘About Time’ brings its music to life through the exceptional talent and chemistry of its members: Aggie Dobson (vocals), John Woodhouse(tenor saxophone), Steve Simpson (double bass), Richard Page (guitar) and Richard Rushton(drums).

Fronted by Polish-born vocalist Aggie Dobson, the band captivates audiences with expressive, emotionally rich performances. Aggie’s voice is crystal-clear yet warm, combining effortless technique, impeccable pitch and genuine emotional depth. Her romantic, authentic style brings each song vividly to life.
John Woodhouse (tenor saxophone) adds depth, elegance and subtle improvisation, drawing on over 35 years of professional experience across big bands, theatre, orchestral work and jazz ensembles. His playing brings mood, nuance and unmistakable class to the sound.
On double bass, Steve Simpson provides a strong, dynamic foundation. With nearly 40 years of experience across multiple genres, Steve has mastered both electric and double bass, touring extensively, collaborating with a wide range of musicians and performing on the club circuit. He is also a dedicated educator at the North West Music Academy.
Richard Page (guitar) contributes colour and creativity, shaping many of the band’s arrangements with a blend of jazz sophistication and rock-influenced energy. His lyrical playing adds richness and individuality to the repertoire.
Completing the lineup is drummer Richard Rushton, affectionately known as “the King of the Brushes.” Originally from Sydney, Australia, Richard’s sensitive yet decisive playing adds texture, groove and momentum, elevating every performance.
