Life of a Mountain: Blencathra
Not Rated65 mins 2D Digital Documentary Adults £9.00 Evening £10.00
Synopsis
The latest film by Terry Abrahams is about the fell he describes as ‘the people’s mountain’ following the campaign to buy it when the owner of the land on which it is situated announced he needed to sell to pay death duties. Since then, Blencathra has come off the market, but the response to the news of the sale suggests that Terry was spot-on in his assessment. Blencathra IS one of the great fells in the Lake District (another of Wainwright’s ‘top half-dozen’), with iconic ascents such as Hall’s Fell and Sharp Edge, and an arresting outline when seen from the south and the east.
