What drives somebody to swim in a freezing reservoir, and what do they find on the other side? ‘Wild Water’ tracks the landscape and the people as they use the restorative powers of cold water to reconnect with their mental health, identity, nature and each other. Our film is a documentary with Yorkshire’s Gaddings Dam providing the backdrop to swimmers’ lives and the story of their community.
We are pleased to welcome Ex Cornish beach life guard Steve Tonkin for a Q&A following the film. Steve is one of Swim the Lakes lead guides, along with all their guides Steve ensures a professional, safe and fantastically fun outdoor swimming adventure.
Swim the Lakes, a family business based in Ambleside, has been leading unique and exciting Lake District swimming adventures since 2005.
They run a popular and varied seasonal calendar of adventure swims all over the Lake District which cater for everyone from novice swimmers to the more experienced . Their Introduction To Open Water Swimming Course was the first of its kind in the UK and there are plenty more swim adventures to choose from including multi-day breaks to mornings dips.
