“Tom Thorp is a dexterous player and an imaginative, original composer. His music and performances are sparkling jewels, that warrant serious attention” Xpress Magazine
Internationally award-winning jazz saxophonist, Tom Thorp, joins us with his quintet ILUMETRIS. Featuring the lyrical and inventive playing of world renowned trumpeter Neil Yates, Pianist Andrew Stamtakis-Brown (Gypsies of Bohemia, 6Pac), firebrand bassist Grant Russell (GoGo Penguin) and drum sensation John Arnesen (Hassan Eraji, Ancient Affinity Orchestra). Their exciting new album (A.M.P Records) Here, There be Monsters… (A.M.P Records) explores myths and legends from around the world. With intricate textures, virtuosic improvisation and vivid musical story telling: this promises to be an evening of thought provoking, energetic and, at times, poignant new music.
