September 1 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm

Sunday evening begins with the Jason Rebello Trio; Jason Rebello – Piano, Asaf Sirkis – Drums, and Yuri Goloubev – Double Bass

Classically trained, but inspired by Herbie Hancock, Jason came to the attention of one of the founders of jazz fusion, Weather Report’s saxophonist Wayne Shorter, in the late 1980s. Impressed by his musical fluency and style, Shorter produced his debut album ‘A Clearer View’ in 1990. Since then, he has worked with many illustrious jazz, rock and pop musicians, including spells with Sting and Jeff Beck, as well as leading his own groups.

Of drummer & percussionist Asaf Sirkis, it has been said; “Listening to him at work, two things are immediately obvious: passion and commitment. Blessed with technical skills that are disarmingly underplayed, his middle-Eastern sensibility balances the potentially volcanic with the meditative and reflective.”

And of virtuoso double-bassist Yuri Goloubev; “Beyond the perfect mastery of his instrument and his deep capacity for writing, is his aesthetic – musical creations deeply-rooted in his experiences from the worlds of classics and jazz – which makes his dialogue and improvisations so solid.” Francisco Cruz, Jazz News, 2014

The Ambleside Days Ensemble. Many of the musicians playing in the Festival come together for this finale, a joyous celebration featuring music rehearsed over the past few days.
