One of the exciting inspirations coming from the Ambleside Days Festival 2019 was the informal collaboration between Hermine Deurloo, harmonica, Gwilym Simcock, piano and Mike Walker on guitar; an easy rapport with beautiful musical lines.
They worked so well together that they are doing a few dates this year and we are really pleased to welcome them back to Zeffirellis ‘Hermine Deurloo plays the chromatic harmonica with the effortless fluency of a saxophonist and is a creative and melodic musician. It is obvious that she ranks among the top jazz harmonica players of this decade’. — Scott Yanow, LA Jazz Scene
Gwilym Simcock has been hailed as a pianist of ‘exceptional’, ‘brilliant’ and ‘dazzling’ ability, and his music has been widely acclaimed as ‘engaging, exciting, often unexpected, melodically enthralling, complex yet hugely accessible’, and above all ‘wonderfully optimistic’
Mike has had a long association with Zeffirellis beginning in the 1980’s and leading to the present and his being part of the founding body of the Ambleside Days Contemporary Jazz Festival.
