Master pianist Eales gives a solo performance in which he traces the many and varied styles of jazz piano playing from the ragtime of Scott Joplin through to the extended improvisations of Keith Jarrett, touching on the work of most of the key players in the intervening century. Formerly pianist with the BBC Big Band, Geoff Eales has been a fixture on the British jazz circuit for forty years, much respected by his peers both as player and theorist (he has a PhD on the work of Aaron Copland). So, expect a comprehensive, serious and entertaining survey of a very big subject!

Unfurl

A fabulous, subtle and original fusion of jazz with Indian classical & folk traditions, quite unlike other experiments in the field, led by violinist Olivia Moore. Suffice it to say that Olivia cites the seminal Jan Garbarek/Zakir Hussain/John McLaughlin album 'Making Music' as a prime influence. If you like that, you'll love Unfurl. And if you're unfamiliar with such work, you still won't be disappointed!

"Moore herself can obviously play the violin with great dexterity, but for the most part she used it with economy and for this she must be credited; although this was her project, this was a group effort musically and it shows her maturity as a leader that she gave so much space to others involved." — Chris Ackerley, The Sound of Now
