Live Music at Zeffirellis in Ambleside
The following events are planned for March.
Zazous Anglais
Mar
12
Zazous Anglais was formed in February 2009 by Neil Harrison, a guitarist in the 'Hot Club' style of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France. He has played 'Jazz Manouche' extensively in the Netherlands and France, including some of the Jazz bars in the Montmartre area of Paris. Together with Jazz guitarist Mark knowles and Double bassist Ken Johnston, the Zazous play a mixture of Jazz Manouche, parisian waltzes, Jazz standards and French songs by Charles Trenet.
The name is derived from the wartime Zazous of Paris, who were French forerunners of the Teddyboys. They wore (for the time) very loud clothing, had their hair greased into pompadours, and were fans of Jazz and swing.
